How to Apply an Amazon Promo Code Before You Order

Enter an eligible Amazon promo code during checkout, before you place your order. The field is usually labeled “Add a gift card, promotion code, or voucher” or “Enter a gift card or promotional code” in the payment section. Type or paste the code, select Apply , and check that the discount appears in the order summary.

The promo code field appears after you add items to your cart and proceed to checkout. On a phone, you may need to expand the payment section or scroll past your payment method to find it. Review the final total before selecting Place your order ; entering a code without applying it will not reduce the price.

After you select Apply , look for a promotional discount or adjusted price in the order summary. Check the total as well as the item price, because shipping and taxes may still apply. If the total does not change, read any message beside the code field before continuing.

A code may be expired, already used, or limited to particular products, sellers, accounts, or order values. Compare the items in your cart with the offer’s terms, including any minimum purchase amount. Also check for extra spaces when pasting the code and confirm that you are shopping on the Amazon site where the offer applies.

Gift card claims and promotional discounts are not always handled the same way. You can often apply a gift card at checkout, but you can also redeem it to your Amazon account balance through the gift card redemption page. If you have a promotional offer rather than a gift card, follow the offer’s instructions and verify its discount in checkout.
